TEACHING EFFECTIVENESS
She is an AMAZING teacher who inspires me to be the best teacher that I can be. If you could multiply this woman by a thousand and send one of her clones into every school out there, she would be an inspiration and a role model to every teacher she came into contact with, and improve every school 100 %. I hope to be just like her one day.

She is an incredible professor - extremely kind and supportive on all fronts. It would be impossible to find someone more caring and suited for teaching this class.

She loves science and teaching others. She was so knowledgeable and loved what she was teaching. She was always in a good mood and that rubbed off on all of us. She is the most positive person I have ever met.

Hands down, Dr. Kahn is amazing. Never before have I been in a classroom where I felt the teacher truly and authenticity cared about each student personally as well as academically. From being around her I learned so much about the educator and person I want to be!
Theories of Instructional Change (Doctoral) Student, 2016
She made me have a different view on science all together (prior to this class I hated science - now I love it and cannot wait to teach it). Sami was very informative and always had great hands-on activities, activities we could use in our classroom. She was very detailed and showed us how to incorporate other subjects into science. Hands-down FAVORITE TEACHER AND CLASS!!!

I am very proud of the fact that I have consistently received excellent teaching evaluations throughout my career. However, like any good teacher, I am always reflecting on ways to be more effective...
I have worked particularly hard over the last few years at employing an ethic of care in my classrooms, ensuring that I understand and attend to my students' needs while working in partnership with them to facilitate their personal growth as educators. I have also focused on making my teaching decisions more transparent so that my students can understand and evaluate the whys behind my choices in order to develop their own metacognitive practices. These approaches, in combination with my (contagious!) passion for science teaching and learning seem to be making positive impacts on my students.
- How can I ensure that I am reaching every student?
- How can I capitalize on technology to make science and science methods "sing" for my students?
- How can I create opportunities for interdisciplinary teaching and learning?
- Am I supporting my students' goals for their (current or future) practice?
